Looking for an Alternative to Vista? Out with the bad, in with the good. Let us replace Windows Vista with Windows XP and you'll love your new computer.

Windows Vista

We don't like it and you probably won't either!

Windows Vista looks like a Mac - but without the immunity to viruses and spyware. While Mac's OSX is fast and efficient -- and gets better and faster with each new version, Windows Vista is quite the resource hog. Many current PCs lack the hardware requirements to run the advanced features (the Mac-like look and feel functions) of Windows Vista. In fact, most computers being sold today don't meet Microsoft's requirements for proper perfofrrmance. Download the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor to see how yours rates.

It's interface is unfamiliar to existing Windows XP users and the security features are just plain irritating. If you like being nagged to death over everything you want to do, then you will definitely want Vista. If not, we advise you to stick with Windows XP.

Numerous compatibility issues with AntiVirus products, iTunes, existing software, printers, scanners, wireless adaptors and the need for massive computing and memory power make Windows Vista highly undesirable for most current PC users.

Going from Windows XP to Max OS-X

If you, like millions of others, are frustrated having Microsoft force-feed you another OS you don't want (remember Windows Millennium?) and have decided to "bite the bullet" and take the plunge into unfamilliar Apple-rich waters, we can help.

We've streamlined the process either in our lab or at your location to transfer your data, install your software and set up your shiny, new Mac to get you up and running (and comfortable) with your new Mac in no time.

While it's true, Macs are not for everyone, the world has changed in the last few years and, with the introduction of Intel-based Macs a couple of years ago, combined with Apple's flagship OS-X, Operating System, it is an excellent option for many.

Call us today for a consultation or to arrange a service call to get your new Mac up and running with all your old data, connected to your network and printing seamlessly. You can even "talk" to the PCs on your network just like before when we're finished.

If you're serious about buying a Mac, stay away from the big-box stores (you know who we mean) and go directly to your local Apple Store or buy it online at www.apple.com. They actually know what they're talking about and can help you make the right decision. But so can we: The owner of The Computer Wizard exclusively uses Macs in his photo studio and can give you all the information you need to make your decision.

If you're at that point where you absolutely must buy a new laptop, the MacBook is a great solution. However, Dell and Toshiba both have XP-equipped notebooks available if you shop carefully (not in stores at the time of this writing).

However, if you're in the market for a new desktop computer, and not ready to make the switch to Apple, we'll be happy to build one to your specifications using only the finest hand-selected components and burned-in for a minimum of 48 hours to assure you of the most reliable computer your money can buy -- and with tech support just a local phone call away.

Apple has issued an advisory for iPod users regarding loss of data and permanent damage to iPods connected to Windows Vista-based computers.
