Used Computer Sales Press Release

The Computer Wizard Announces Used Computer Equipment Sales

July 15, 2002

The Computer Wizard of Plano, Texas has recently acquired a substantial inventory of used computer equipment. This comes from their alliance with the Foundation for Uniting Technology With Recipients, Inc. (FUTR), a non-profit foundation. FUTR receives donations of computers from the community and redistributes them to lower-income families in the DFW area. The Computer Wizard refurbishes the systems prior to donating them.

Numerous individuals and companies have donated computers, printers, monitors and accessories to this project. Many items are donated that are not usable for the purposes of the foundation, due to being the wrong speed or specifications - or simply inappropriate for home use. Components that fall into this category are evaluated, repaired as needed and made available for sale at the company offices in Plano.

An example of currently available components includes a Xerox 5065 collating copier, a large-format digitizer, numerous 486 and pentium computers, laser printers, dot-matrix printers, scanners, monitors and some laptop computers.

Proceeds of the sales benefit FUTR.

News Release

For immediate release: March 28, 2003

Local Entrepreneur Brings GIs and Families Together

Thanks to a Plano entrepreneur, families of local GI's will soon be able to stay in touch with their loved ones overseas via email and Instant Messaging.

Warren Harris is owner of The Computer Wizard and Founder and President of FUTR.org. He was looking for a way to help our troops, when he hit upon an idea to redirect the output of his existing non-profit project to the families of deployed GI's.

For the past year, The Computer Wizard of Plano, in conjunction with the Foundation for Uniting Technology with Recipients, Inc. has taken donations of computer components, refurbished them and given complete computers to lower-income families in North Texas. More than 50 families in the Plano-Richardson area have benefited from this work.

Harris now wants to take this non-profit procedure and donate the refurbished computers to the families of local soldiers. Qualifying recipients will have an immediate family member stationed outside the continental United States and must not currently own a computer.

To make this a reality for the troops, computer donations are needed. These donations are tax deductible.

What types of computers are needed? Functioning computers with a minimum CPU speed of 166MHz are preferred. Storage and Memory is not an issue, as these components are easily upgraded from systems that cannot be fully restored. Specifically, what can be used are:

Computers (preferably with Operating System and Driver Disks)
Monitors
Printers
Keyboards
Mice
Speakers

Items that cannot be refurbished because of slow speed, or beyond reasonable repair, can be used to provide parts to repair other systems - or can be sold, with the proceeds used to purchase speakers, cables, ink cartridges, etc. to complete systems for distribution.

The Computer Wizard and FUTR.org, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation are located at:

3131 Regal Rd, Ste 175
Plano, TX 75075

Growing Pains Drive Computer Wizard Expansion

The Computer Wizard, a computer repair and consulting company in Plano, Texas, has relocated to larger quarters. For the last three years the company was located on Regal Road in central Plano, but due to phenomenal growth, a change was necessary. The new location, only 2 miles from their original offices, boasts better accessibility, improved parking and more than quadruples their repair capacity.

Moving to a new location provided some unforseen benefits, as well. A unique characteristic of the Regal Road office was the use of data CDs (mostly AOL) to adorn the entirety of the reception area walls. This decorating quirk was rendered obsolete in the move. The reason behind the CD application to the walls was, according to Warren Harris, owner of The Computer Wizard, to hide the leafy wallpaper applied to the walls by the previous tenant -- a pattern that was decidedly un-wizard-like. At the new location, the entire remodeling of the space to suit Mr. Harris included the application of vivid colors throughout, in addition to innovative equipment handling mechanisms designed to improve efficiency and minimize static discharge risks.

The Computer Wizard brings a unique style to their computer consulting firm, translating complex computer jargon into plain English for their clientele. With sliding-scale rates and emergency on-site services, The Computer Wizard strives to bring the finest computer consulting service to their Metroplex customers.

The Computer Wizard is now located at 3131 Custer Road, #175 in Plano at the southwest corner of Custer and Parker in the Kroger shopping center. The phone number remains the same.

Computer Repair Discounts offered to local Police and Fire Personnel

The Computer Wizard, a computer repair and consulting company in Plano, Texas, is offering discounted services to all Frisco and Plano Police and Fire personnel. Warren Harris, owner of the Computer Wizard, is showing his support for local Police and Fire men and women by offering an unconditional lifetime 10% discount on all services and materials.

Mr. Harris feels these men and women are under-compensated for the valuable and dangerous service they provide to the community. Knowing that sooner or later everyone needs computer repairs, he is offering to reduce some of their financial burden by giving them a discount on his services.

The Computer Wizard provides in-shop and housecall services for all brands of PCs, including virus and spyware removal, hardware and software troubleshooting, networking, data recovery and computer forensics.

The Computer Wizard has been in business since 1994 and is located at 3131 Custer Road, Suite 175 in Plano, Texas. They can be reached by phone at 972-781-0011.

Computer Investigation firm spins-off from The Computer Wizard.

The Computer Wizard (Plano, Texas) is spinning-off their data recovery and digital forensics unit into a stand-alone business.

DFW Computer Investigations (www.dfwci.com) will, for the time being, operate out of the same offices as The Computer Wizard in Plano. Future plans may include relocating the new business to different quarters, but no immediate plans to this effect have been made.

The Computer Wizard provides PC service and support for all versions of Windows, networks of all sizes and Virus and Spyware removal. Celebrating their 12th year in business this month, Warren Harris, owner and founder of The Computer Wizard feels it is time to separate their Data Recovery and Forensics unit into a separate enterprise.

Since Computer Forensics requires special licensing and is more time-consuming that some of the other day-to-day processes involved in general computer maintenance, Mr. Harris feels re-defining the technical business model will better serve his customers.

The Computer Wizard and DFW Computer Investigations are located at 3131 Custer Road, Ste 175 in Plano. The phone number is 972-781-0011
